Building Humility

- November 16, 2025
Notice and Name Your Ego – When you catch yourself needing to be right or in control, pause and say silently, “There’s my ego talking.” This builds awareness without judgment.

Practice “I Might Be Wrong” – Once a day, say this phrase to yourself in a disagreement or when forming a strong opinion. It opens space for curiosity and learning.

Thank Your Mind – When your thoughts try to defend your pride or status, gently say, “Thanks, mind,” and return to the present. This defuses unhelpful thinking.

Do One Small Act of Service – Each day, do something kind without seeking recognition. It could be as simple as holding a door or letting someone merge in traffic.

Listen Without Fixing – In one conversation daily, focus only on listening—no advice, no correcting. Just presence. This honors others’ experiences over your own need to help or be right.

Drop the Rope – When you feel pulled into a power struggle, imagine dropping a tug-of-war rope. Ask yourself, “What matters more here—being right or being kind?”

Values Check-In – Ask yourself each morning: “How can I show up today with humility?” Let your values guide your actions, not your ego.
